How To Get the Most Out of Your Countertop
We know design is a perfect puzzle of budget, value, and aesthetics. Sometimes that perfect, dream stone is in your budget but when it isn’t…we get creative! Here’s some tips on how we design big even on a small budget.
Did you fall in love with that gorgeous natural Dolomite? Same. Can’t afford it on the countertops and on the backsplash? That’s okay, pair it with a complimentary economic option! We recommend doing the most desired stone in a vertical install so it’s most easily visible. Plus you get to feel the excitement of getting what you want without paying an arm and a leg!
Lean into color theory; make the particulates a feature - not an eyesore. Painted cabinet faces or just painted cabinets are more affordable than stained and using muted colors create a softer aesthetic.
While leaning in, level up and give that basic backsplash a run for its money with a high backsplash return. If you can’t take it to the upper cabinets, even 10” or so can create an elevated feel.
Get playful and think about how you use your cabinetry! This center drawer set only adds a few inches to the countertop but you gain extra storage, the bump out creates visual interest, and even when paired with builder-grade finishes, it feels like a swanky hotel.
There’s a right time and place for a pencil edge and your kitchen isn’t it. Even if you can’t use that perfect high end luxury product, you can add drama through edge profiles like a classic ogee or dupont!
Your countertop doesn’t have to be the star of the show! You can pair higher end fixtures like these ornate sink faucets with more “basic” countertops to elevate the feel of your space. Add coordinating cabinet hardware and say bye bye to that builder grade kitchen.
Lastly, think about structure! Even if you can’t use that perfect high end luxury product, you can add drama through backsplash returns and curved features like shown on this lovely vanity above. Compliment the countertop with beautiful dramatic wallpaper and sultry ambient lighting to create a luxurious vibe.
